They have been in the IT industry for more than a decade and they are pretty good at what they do.

Background

This IT services company was established in the early 2010s with a completely different objective to what they do now and while their operations and size have drastically increased in volume, some of their software solutions regarding research management and planning have remained archaic. They simply did not think about replacing their older simple DOS-based rudimentary research planning program with something that is much more appropriate with the times and with the size of their company and we all know what happens when a team gets too comfortable with a system. Such an outdated system was having a real negative effect and their SDLCs and delayed their project completion times and this meant a direct negative effect on their turnovers. That is where we come into the picture to help them out.

The Challenge

The challenge therefore was to come up with a reliable and comprehensive Resource Management Software (RMS) solution that would account for all the resources within the company in a team that is 5000+ members. We had to custom create an RMS system that would allow for the planning and allocation as well as tracking of all company resources in the most effective way possible whether it is employee job allocation based on skillsets or budget allocation based on project priority and even IT infrastructure as well as physical real-estate allocation based on needs. The challenges therefore were.

The Objective

• A centralized resource planning RMS system that is integrated into all company projects so as to distribute workloads evenly and help managers check on the progress of projects in the most effective way possible.
• An RMS system capable of tracking research you said and utilisation in real-time so as to predict the project’s future status and also prevent overloads ensuring the project stays on track at all times.
• A system capable of cost management as well as helping in project budget allocation as well as resource and cost allocation.
• Finally, a system that can do employee skill assessment accurately and also help in employee project allocation based on skill analysis and the establishment of a dynamic skill database.

The Solution

The solution that we came up with was an automated and completely integrated smart Resource Management Software (RMS) solution that took into consideration all resources from employees to infrastructure as well as any tangible and nontangible resources including real estate. Our system is capable of automatically requesting additional resources when the algorithm detects a slowdown of project progress and a prediction of the projects not meeting the deadline or goals set prior.
